Ekahau RTLS to locate 3G mobile phone users in Japan

Tuesday, 27 January, 2009 (Age: 2 yrs)

Ekahau, a leading provider of Wi-Fi-based Real Time Location Systems (RTLS), announced that Softbank Telecom, Japan’s third largest telecommunications service provider, has integrated Ekahau’s location-based services (Ekahau RTLS) with their application suite to be used with the high-end X Series 3G mobile phones from SoftBank Mobile.

The new system locates the X Series mobile phones carried by the employees and does not require any additional infrastructure components, such as additional readers, antennas or chokepoints, therefore making it very easy to install even in the most crowded public places.

The tracking solution can be used to locate assets and people. It’s two-way communication assures that the accurate location of the person carrying the handset will be reported and possible assistance can be sent to the right location rapidly. Use cases vary from healthcare to manufacturing and logistics to retail, just to name a few. The overall management of people or processes and equipment can be made more effective in a very cost effective way.
